When people are comfortable with their lives they don’t typically rock the boat too much. As a matter of fact, they usually let things slide. Work related things, personal things, relationship things, family matters… you know, the usual issues that might bother someone unless they are okay with things enough to let the said issues slide.
The same is true with government. If the government isn’t really doing too much to change a person’s life, that person usually just lets the little stuff slide on passed. They may sit around the table and complain a bit but for the most part, they just shrug their shoulders and say “it isn’t really affecting me much anyway, so I won’t bother to do anything about it”.
Then one day that person starts to lose things… maybe he loses his job and it takes him a couple of months to find a new one so bills don’t get paid. Maybe he notices his grocery bill is getting higher or his credit card has increased his interest rate… again. Maybe he notices that same credit card has actually lowered his spending limit even though he has excellent credit. Perhaps he ends up filing bankruptcy because he’s so buried in debt either from his own stupidity or because he lost that job. Or maybe it’s so bad that he can’t pay his mortgage and finds himself needing to sell it or let it foreclose.
All of the above has not happened to me… but some of it has. Now we’re hearing the media tell us the housing market is coming back and that things are turning around. I’m here to tell you that is not true. To sell my house, I have to take a 45% loss… and right now we have a hardship which means we MUST sell our house. The writing is on the wall and I feel like my world is crashing down around me.
Who do I blame? I will always take blame when it’s mine to take but I am not to blame for what’s happening out there with our economy. I do not usually point fingers simply to point them nor do I usually fall on that old stereo type of how horrible politicians are but I have to tell you… I do blame the politicians and the hard-ass rich bastards that swell the politician’s wallets and egos. I am not someone who is against the “rich” simply because they are rich… hell, I strive to gain some wealth myself. What I hate are the wealthy individuals and organizations who play with the regular people’s lives like a house of cards.
So if I end up without a house and horrible credit… what exactly do I have to lose? My family will stick with me no matter what and I have awesome friends who will also stay by my side. So what is it that I have to lose?
If you take it all away from me… then why NOT revolt? Ah… I know some think that if you take it all away from the people then they will have nothing to fight for… they will lose hope and fade away. But that’s not really what American’s are all about… American’s are all about freedom and liberty and if you push us far enough away from those rights… we will push back. And if we have nothing to lose… we will fight!
